TucsonTonks is a small cattery in Tucson, Arizona, focusing on breeding quality purebred kittens as, and for, pets.
We specialize in socialization and developing each kitten's unique personality. We work hard to pair a kitten's personality with an adoptive family's situation and needs for the very best fit. We also prepare the kittens for a smooth transition from our cattery to your home.
We care very much about the happiness of our kittens. Therefore, all adoption applicants are vetted, including being required to submit a completed application, participate in telephone and video calls, and discuss cat care prior to adoption.
An application can be requested via
EMAIL. There is usually a short waiting list so the receipt date of your application is recorded to identify your place in line.

History
My love for Tonkinese began in 2014 when I rescued a cat that had been found injured by the side of a freeway, which we named, of course, FREEWAY. She was not your normal cat... oh the things she did! and COULD do.... and got into. The behavior was so different from the standard DSH I knew and loved that I started researching... and researching. The vet was of little help, but Tonks are not all that common so it wasn't surprising that they'd not treated one personally.
Obviously, Freeway, being pure white, was not purebred but she had those aqua eyes... and apparently enough Siamese and Burmese in her to exhibit some of the AMAZING traits of a Tonk. (see "it all started with a freeway") Simply said, I fell in love with the breed.
Felix and Parker came to live with me, as kittens, in 2017. I had found that Tonks are like potato chips.... you can't have just one. You can't even have just two. But, I found, they ARE like toddlers.

I was so enraptured with Tonks that I worked with my breeder for an extended period and eventually became the primary hooman caretaker and breeder to Jenny, Bella, and King Tommy when my breeder needed to concentrate on her daytime job for a while. I was in heaven.
My breeder was so pleased with my process and results that this transition became permanent and Jenny, Bella, and Tommy remained with me. She provided guidance and advice as I began my journey into breeding.
I absolutely LOVE caring for and nurturing these amazing animals. They are intelligent, intuitive, active, attentive, and loving.
We have expanded just a little, adjusted our feline staff as needed, modified a lot, and adapted our home and property to accommodate my beloved Tonks, and, of course, to keep them safe. We have build catios, cat proofed everything, and remodeled a room into a devoted kitten room so our kittens are safe at night as they can get into quite the fixes. During the day, the kittens help me... with everything... and they amuse me... with all they do.
There is no doubt that raising happy, healthy, well socialized kittens is a lot of work but its truly a labor of love. The sheer number of litter boxes and multiple daily scoopings and food and toys and picking up; I feel like I am running a 24 hour day care. I work with the kittens daily on manners, grooming, or play while maintaining close relationships with all adults. It is more than a full time job but I love 99.9% of it.... (not thrilled when one breaks into something they shouldn't eat and gets a bit of tummy distress... lol). With all that, its STILL the best job Ive ever had.
There is never a dull moment.
Our home is filled with a funny, crazy clowder of cats...
and I couldn't be happier.
